Spirit burst is one of the most universal itemization archetypes in Deadlock. The idea is simple: you pour Spirit Power into items that amplify ability damage and try to delete a key target with one short combo before their defenses can react. This template isn't tied to a single hero — it fits Lady Geist, Infernus, and Seven equally well, and with minor tweaks it works on almost any caster.
The logic of the build
The main goal of a spirit-burst loadout is to maximize instant damage inside a one-to-two second window. That's why priority goes to items that directly raise Spirit Power and amplify the burst, rather than damage over time or sustain. The second most important stat is cooldown reduction: the more often your core combo is available, the higher your real damage per minute.
Don't forget the enemy's spirit resistance. By the late game opponents buy Spirit Armor, and raw Spirit Power stops cutting through. So the template builds in items that lower the target's resistance and boost the single burst specifically.
The core shopping template
Early game
Start with cheap Spirit items: Mystic Burst adds a damage spike whenever an ability lands, while Extra Spirit and Mystic Reach increase your cast power and range, making the lane easier. If you're being pressured, add Enduring Spirit or Spirit Lifesteal for survivability and to recover health from ability damage.
Mid and late game
The midgame is the core of the build. Improved Spirit sharply raises Spirit Power, Mystic Vulnerability temporarily lowers the target's spirit resistance, and Superior Cooldown trims your cooldowns so you can cast the combo more often. One active item — Ethereal Shift or Silence Glyph — gives you a window to enter and leave safely.
In the endgame, pick up burst amplifiers: Improved Burst and Boundless Spirit multiply your single-hit damage, Echo Shard lets you repeat a key ability, and Refresher resets your cooldowns in a decisive fight. This package is what turns one cast into a guaranteed damage spike on the chosen target and lets you win teamfights off a single good entry.
The template works best on heroes with a sharp one-shot ability: Lady Geist's Essence Bomb, Infernus's ignite combo, Seven's charges. If a hero's damage is spread over time, shift the emphasis from Improved Burst toward sustained Spirit Power and resistance penetration. Against high-health teams, lean harder into Mystic Vulnerability; against skittish opponents, add control like Knockdown so the target can't escape your combo radius.
The main rule is not to spread yourself thin. Spirit burst punishes half-measures: either you assemble a coherent combo and delete the target instantly, or your damage gets soaked up by the enemy's resistance and sustain. Keep your combo ready, pick a single target, and finish them before the team can respond.
