Movement mechanics in the game Deadlock decide whether a player reaches cover, avoids an enemy ability or arrives at an important area in time. Dash moves, slides and jumps from walls are useful only when the hero is ready for the next action.
A fast route is not always a safe route. Players need to watch stamina, enemy sight lines and the place where the movement ends. The best sequence creates an advantage without leaving the hero unable to dodge.
Players should keep enough stamina for one more dash
A dash move uses stamina and moves the hero a short distance. A player who uses all available stamina to enter a fight may be unable to avoid the next attack. Keeping enough stamina for one more dash move gives the hero a way to escape.
Stamina also recovers while the hero moves between areas. A player can move quickly through a safe area and then slow down before danger. This restores stamina and gives the player time to check the next corner.
Players should save more stamina when their hero has low health. A player can spend more stamina while chasing one isolated opponent, but the chase must stop before it becomes unsafe.
A dash helps the hero change direction quickly
A dash move helps a hero cross an open area, leave a dangerous zone or avoid an aimed shot. Direction is as important as timing. A sideways dash can keep the enemy within range. A backward dash can give the player time to reload.
Using the same direction every time makes the hero predictable. An opponent can aim at the place where the dash move will end. This movement should end behind cover or at a different height.
The player should decide what to do after the dash before using it. If the dash ends directly against a wall, the hero may stop in danger. A corner, a rail or a nearby ally gives the player another safe choice.

Sliding saves stamina on a suitable slope
Sliding helps a hero keep speed on a slope without using more stamina. It works best when the slope leads in the same direction as the player. On flat ground, a slide may reduce the view without adding useful speed.
The player should look ahead before sliding. A fast slide into an open area can leave the hero exposed when it ends. The route is safer when it ends behind cover or near a corner.
Sliding also saves stamina during long movement across the map. A team that uses slopes well reaches the next area with more stamina for the fight. One slide makes a small difference, but several good slides save much more.
Movement actions
Quick dash: Fast change of direction.
Sliding down a slope: Speed on a suitable slope.
Jump from a wall: A higher or safer position.
Stamina in reserve: Enough stamina for an emergency dash.
A jump from a wall helps the hero change height
A jump from a wall sends the hero in the opposite direction. It can help the hero reach a ledge, change height or move away from enemy fire. The player needs a suitable wall and a clear place to land.
Players should practise one route at a time. One reliable jump on a route used often is more useful than several difficult moves that fail during a fight. The landing place must also be safe. A high position without cover can expose the hero to several enemies.
A jump from a wall followed by a dash covers more distance but uses more stamina. This sequence is useful during an escape or a planned attack. It can also help the hero reach a safe route where stamina can recover before the next fight.
Fast movement should help the whole team
Movement skills are most useful when they help the team. A player can reach a battle area early, support an ally or check an important location. Moving quickly without a clear plan can separate the player from the team.
A player should tell teammates before taking a long route. Several quick moves can bring the hero to the destination before support arrives. Waiting behind cover for a moment is often better than starting a fight alone.
Players should check where the hero stopped after every failed move. If the hero died with no stamina, the player probably used too much at the start. If the hero reached safety but could not help an ally, the player moved too far away. This review helps players make better decisions in the next match.
