Deadlock's 14 October update pulls Baba away from an unusually safe early game and gives Deadman Danny more reliable basic pressure. The patch is not a full roster reset: it targets the parts of both heroes that made one difficult to punish and the other too dependent on ideal ability timing.
Baba now pays more for holding a risky position
Baba begins with negative bullet resistance and receives slightly less spirit-resistance growth. That combination makes careless exposure more expensive before defensive items are online. Threadsap also has a longer cooldown, and its spirit reduction ends when the affected target dies, removing value that could linger beyond the interaction that created it.
The practical change is not that Baba must abandon pressure. Players need to choose a safer exit before committing Granny Long Legs or Brew. The reduced airborne melee movement and upward launch on Granny Long Legs make it harder to improvise an escape after entering at a poor angle.

Brew is still a defensive tool, not a free second health bar
Brew's barrier has lower base strength, much lower spirit scaling and a longer cooldown at its second upgrade. A well-timed use can still absorb the part of a burst that matters, but repeatedly converting offensive spirit into oversized protection is less efficient. Opponents should have a clearer window to continue pressure after the first barrier is spent.
Baba players can answer by treating Brew as protection for a specific action: finishing a channel, crossing one exposed lane or surviving the first return shot. Activating it simply because a fight has started wastes the timing that the patch now makes more valuable.

Danny receives help before his full combo arrives
Deadman Danny gains health, regeneration and higher bullet damage, including a stronger charged shot. Those changes improve lane trading without requiring Chimera or Strix Salvo to solve every exchange. Chimera's scaling and healing are stronger, while Strix Salvo has a shorter cooldown and better spirit scaling.
Rocket jump now costs less self-damage and deals spirit damage, making it a more practical movement and finishing tool. Close the Deal also increases its bonus against targets below half health from 50% to 75%. Danny should be better at converting an advantage instead of watching a weakened opponent leave while his key ability is unavailable.
The matchup is about windows, not a simple tier swap
Baba remains capable of controlling space, and Danny still needs to connect his abilities. The patch changes the margin for error. Baba's missed defensive timing is easier to punish, while Danny can stay relevant through ordinary shots until his stronger sequence is ready.
In early testing, players should track one question: who controls the lane after the first major cooldown is used? If Baba spends Brew without gaining ground, Danny's improved baseline can take over the next exchange. If Danny wastes movement and fires charged shots from a readable angle, Baba can still control the route into cover. The update creates a clearer contest rather than handing either hero an automatic win.

Hero: Baba; Main direction: Weaker Brew scaling; Expected effect: Barrier timing matters more than raw spirit
Hero: Deadman Danny; Main direction: More health and bullet damage; Expected effect: Better lane trades between abilities
Hero: Deadman Danny; Main direction: Stronger ability conversion; Expected effect: More reliable finishes on weakened targets
